Unlocking the Secrets of Lockpicking in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Lockpicking is an essential skill in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. Mastering this ability allows you to open locked chests and doors, unlocking new opportunities and treasures throughout the game. For many players, however, the art of lockpicking can be perplexing. This guide will simplify the process and share valuable tips to help you succeed in lockpicking.

There are five levels of lock difficulty in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II: Very Easy, Easy, Medium, Hard, and Very Hard. The difficulty affects the size of the pins and the precision required for unlocking. High-difficulty locks can only be unlocked after improving your Skills in Stealing. The higher your Stealing skill, the easier the lockpicking process becomes.

Lockpicking in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

To start lockpicking, you first need to acquire lockpicking tools. These tools can be purchased from various merchants, or you can find them on NPCs or in chests throughout the world. You will automatically receive some lockpicking tools during the miller's side quest, "Raw Materials."

Once you have your tools, interact with the locked chest or door to initiate the lockpicking mini-game. You will need to maneuver the round ball to each pin in the lock mechanism until you find the lit position. As soon as you find that, hold R2/RT to rotate the lockpicking tool while ensuring the ball keeps moving with the rotating pins. If the ball stops lighting up, your attempt will fail, and your lockpicking tools may break.

  • Practice makes perfect: Try picking easier locks while NPCs are asleep at night to improve your Stealing skill quickly.
  • Once your Stealing skill reaches level 20, you will find it significantly easier to pick any difficulty locks.
  • Consider saving your game before attempting to pick locks. If your tool breaks, you can simply reload the game and try again.

Skill Enhancements:

  1. Stealing - Tool Master: Increases durability of lockpicking tools by 15% before they break.
  2. Stealing - Mischief Maker: Grants +3 Stolen ability for 120 seconds after lockpicking or stealing.
  3. Drugs - Quick Fingers: Increases agility by +6 for 40 minutes, purchasable from the apothecary in the main quest "14" for around 45 Groschen (price varies with reputation).
