Bow Setup Strategy in Monster Hunter Wilds
In Monster Hunter Wilds, the bow is a beloved weapon among many players, known for its high ranged output damage. So, what is the optimal setup for bows? Below is a detailed setup strategy shared by "TodSickle" that aims to assist players in their hunting journey.
Overall Setup Strategy
The overall strategy for setup is to hit weak points. Without considering the weak-point damage of 20 crits, you can achieve a better hunting experience and higher output. Personally, I prefer to directly cause damage to weak points, so the setup is just a reference.
First Setup - Frenzy + Challenge

Switching from Combo to Challenger
The strategy focuses on abandoning combos, opting instead for the Challenger skill which provides critical hit and attack power. The armor and its gems offer a total of Weakness Exploit 30 (+20) + Challenger 15 + No Resentment 10 + Overcoming Frenzy Virus 15 = 70 (90) critical hit rate. By using a Mechanical Weapon 3 critical part to achieve 20 critical hits, the condition triggers all states (excluding Weakness Exploit wounds), reaching a total of 90 critical. Maintaining Weakness Exploit wounds and rerolling for critical hit skill can easily result in max crit rate.
Alternative Set: Overcoming Frenzy Virus + Combo
This loadout employs Overcoming Frenzy Virus combined with combos. The crit rate is slightly lower compared to triggering Challenger (Weakness Exploit 30 (+20) + No Resentment 10 + Overcoming Frenzy Virus 15 + 3 Critical Eye 12 = 67). When considering the Mechanical Weapon, the crit rate can stabilize at 87 once the Frenzy Virus is overcome. Depending on the needs of the situation, rerolling for critical hit on the Mechanical Weapon can enhance benefits. Having a level of Impact Resistance can improve comfort against certain monsters.
The gem transition for both sets can be adjusted for Heavy Attack depending on circumstances. For Bow users, prioritizing Weakness Exploit with a total of 30 (+20) first can allow for tweaking down on some crit skills to maximize damage output.
Stone Challenges and Optimal Build Tips
In this version, challenges related to stones such as attack and combo can only be upgraded to level 2. Therefore, you can adjust your gear setup based on your available jewels. However, it is essential to have three level 3 jewels that match the required skills—Critical Boost and Elemental Attack are provided by weapon jewels. For those who prefer Breaker King, you can swap its position with Fortunate Turn. It is known that Critical Element might overlap with Fortunate Turn, so choosing Fortunate Turn for builds is typically recommended as it is easier to obtain.
Deck builds are for reference only. The mechanical weapon for Ice Bow can only accommodate the piercing coatings; currently, there are no notable strategies for maximizing Weakness Exploit.
