1-1 The Galloping Sandy Wanderer
In Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest open-world installment of the series, dynamic ecosystems, vast maps, and an in-depth hunting experience are at its core. It returns to many classic settings and features, offering an excellent seamless hunting mode made up of multiple sandbox maps. Below is a complete quest walkthrough for Monster Hunter Wilds, featuring strategies for all monsters and methods to complete side quests. We hope this guide will help everyone.
【1-1 The Galloping Sandy Wanderer】
After the opening cutscene, you'll arrive at the character creation page. To change the hunter's gender, click on "Default Appearance" and select a female hunter. The "Detailed Settings" option allows for more intricate modifications to individual body parts, while "Auto-Generate Face" helps casual players quickly adjust facial structures.
Introduction
The game's initial storyline is consistent with its public beta version. As the protagonist, or the hunter controlled by the player, you are appointed as a member of the investigation team in the Forbidden Lands. Your mission is to aid the guardians in bringing a group of surviving boys back to their homeland and to defeat the mysterious monster, the White Shadow.
First Hunt: A Desperate Rescue
When players first arrive by boat at the desert area of the Forbidden Lands, they encounter a girl being attacked by a swarm of Sand Dragons. This marks the beginning of their first hunt, as they jump down to assist. In this sequence, there is no need to control the mount; instead, you should survey your surroundings and follow the little girl ahead. Upon reaching a pivotal story point, the girl will find herself trapped.
High-Flying Combat Techniques
Utilize a projector to target the Winged Dragon soaring above. When the icon appears on the monster, press the corresponding key to unleash the projector's explosive shot.

Rescue Mission and Weapon Selection
Next, aim for the Sand Sea Dragon in the sand pit and use the launcher to fire a bomb at it to rescue the little girl. The subsequent chase scene appears tense, but there is actually no need for any controls; just wait until you reach the finish line.
After the storyline concludes, we meet Alma, who is responsible for rescuing the little girl’s brother, while the others head off to set up camp. You can talk to Alma next to the tent to choose a suitable weapon or use some dialogue options to have her recommend a weapon that fits you.
I believe the weapons that are more suitable for beginners are: Great Sword, Gunlance, and Switch Axe, but ultimately, it's best to go with your personal preference.
After selecting a weapon, you can try it out at the wooden barrel nearby to see whether this weapon's attack patterns and combos suit you.
Weapon Customization and Switching
The weapon system allows for freedom in changing loadouts, with the introduction of a new main and sub-weapon system. Players can carry two weapons and switch between them anytime, reducing the necessity to focus solely on the initial choice.
Riding the Eagle Dragon
When approaching the Eagle Dragon, use the corresponding button to ride it. The dragon will navigate to the monster’s location, while players only need to control acceleration and deceleration.
Encountering the Tangle Frog
Upon arrival, you'll find a monster called the Tangle Frog capturing a girl's brother. The Tangle Frog has simple attack patterns primarily involving its two front claws, biting, and a lunging charge. Its movements exhibit noticeable telegraphs, making it relatively easy to confront.
Exploiting Weaknesses
The Tangle Frog's weakness lies in its long, protruding tongue. Attacking this weak point can inflict greater damage, although it comes with increased risks.
Entangled Frog's Vulnerable Parts
The Entangled Frog's two forelimbs are destructible parts. By breaking these parts, you can obtain the rarest material, Entangled Frog's Armor, which has only a 15% drop rate upon normal defeat.
Entangled Frog's Attack Patterns
Right Foreclaw Strike
This attack has a noticeable raising and charging action. The Entangled Frog then strikes the ground with its right claw, causing a knockback effect to players hit by it. Due to the clear wind-up, there is ample time to evade.
Bitten and Tongue Spin
During this attack, the Entangled Frog performs a clear action of sticking out its tongue and opening its mouth. It first takes a bite forward, then spins its tongue around. The wind-up is obvious, so when you see the tongue being extended and the mouth opening, prepare to move away from the creature.
Charge Attack
This charge can be deadly, so ensure you're prepared to dodge or block effectively. Watch closely for winding cues to anticipate its movement.
Entangled Frog's Charge Attack
Before using this move, the Entangled Frog shows a clear charging state. Once you see it charging, immediately dodge to the sides. After it completes the charge, the frog will dash forward, dealing continuous damage.
Ground Slam
The Entangled Frog exhibits a noticeable butt-wiggling charge before using this move. Move to the sides as soon as you see this animation to avoid it. After charging, the frog will leap into the air and slam down toward the front.
Looting Materials
After defeating the Entangled Frog, you can carve several materials from its carcass. Be sure not to forget to collect the materials.
Ending the Quest
Next, follow the guide to approach Alma and others to trigger the cutscene. After everyone returns to the main camp, this quest will conclude.
1-2: The Village Coexisting with Wind Sounds
Talk to Olivia at the campsite, and then follow the prompts to speak with the three NPCs in the campsite. Finally, enter the investigation team's headquarters tent to trigger new events.
Arrive at the campsite entrance and talk to Alma to officially start the quest "The Village Coexisting with Wind Sounds." After this, we do not need to move ourselves; just accelerate and let the dragon take us along.
During the journey, we need to pay attention to the materials displayed on the left side of the screen. From there, we can see what materials are available in the surrounding environment. By using the directional keys, we can directly select these materials and collect them.
Starting Your Adventure in Monster Hunter Wilds
You will reach your destination and collect 3 honey by following the guide. Continue to ride your dragon to the entrance of Wind Sound Village. Upon arrival, you'll learn that the villagers are not welcoming at the moment, and they will take away your riding dragon.
Dealing with Blood Bugs
Next, you need to walk back following the guide. On the way, you will encounter a few Blood Bugs, which are minor enemies. You can easily defeat them.
Returning to the Village
Once you return to the village, speak with Jack at the supply station and Jema at the blacksmith. Then, have a conversation with Alma at the village entrance. Later, you'll witness a team of NPCs sending a distress signal.
Following the Guiding Light
Release the guiding bug as prompted and follow the green guiding light all the way to the rescue location to defeat the Firetail Dragon.
Weaknesses of the Fiery Tail Dragon
The weakness of the Fiery Tail Dragon lies in its neck area. Normal attacks can be somewhat challenging, so it is recommended to first target the breakable parts to create wounds. Once the dragon is down, focus all your attacks on its weak points.
The head and tail of the Fiery Tail Dragon can be broken. Breaking the head guarantees the material Fiery Tail Dragon's Crown, while breaking the tail guarantees the material Fiery Tail Dragon's Tail.
Fiery Tail Dragon's Move Analysis
Tail Swipe
Before launching this attack, the Fiery Tail Dragon will raise its rear. At this moment, sparks will visibly emit from its tail, indicating the attack. When you see the sparks, immediately move away from the direction the dragon's head is facing to avoid being hit.
Tail Slam
The Fiery Tail Dragon also employs a tail slam attack that can deal significant damage. It is crucial to maintain your distance and look for openings during its recovery animations.

Firetail Dragon Attacks
Before using this move, the Firetail Dragon will sway its broken bone and raise its tail, then quickly slam it down onto the ground. We have a long reaction time from when we see the tail raised to when it slams down.
Charge
This move has an unclear wind-up; after a brief charge, the Firetail Dragon will directly charge towards the target. Just before reaching the destination, the Firetail Dragon will slam its head onto the ground. Taking advantage of this move's recovery allows you to deal significant damage to weak points.
Head Slam
This move has a noticeable recovery. First, the Firetail Dragon will make a sound while raising its head without moving. Upon seeing this wind-up, quickly move away from the direction it's facing. Once the wind-up ends, the Firetail Dragon will slam its head down, causing area damage.
Front Bite
Details about the Front Bite ability are not provided here.
Inflamma Dragon Combat Techniques and Game Progress Guide
The Inflamma Dragon opens its mouth wide and raises its head. Upon this pre-attack animation, quickly move away from the Inflamma Dragon towards the designated area. After the pre-attack animation ends, the Inflamma Dragon will bite in the direction it is facing.
Spinning Stab
When the Inflamma Dragon is about to use this move, it lowers its head and tail while roaring in preparation. After the pre-attack animation ends, it charges forward in the direction it’s facing, first biting before following up with a tail whip combo.
After successfully defeating the Inflamma Dragon, Isay will return to the desert headquarters to speak with us. At this time, he will officially hand over the mount for us to ride.
Continue to follow the prompts and talk to many NPCs, ultimately engaging with Isay at the entrance to head back to Wind Sound Village.
Arriving at Wind Sound Village
After arriving at Wind Sound Village, follow the instructions and talk to the designated NPCs one by one. Then, speak with Isa to enter the story and enjoy a family meal to complete the mission.
1-3 Forest Ecological Survey
Open the map and move to the upper right corner along the route shown in the image below. Enter the second map, Scarlet Forest, through the indicated location. Upon entering the forest, you will automatically receive the quest Forest Ecological Survey.
After successfully establishing a camp in the forest during the cutscene, talk to Nat and Eric at the camp to trigger the next node. Follow Eric and the others to the alternative location, and just continue to follow the prompts along the way.
Triggering the Story
Upon reaching the first destination, a story sequence will be triggered. Continue to follow the guidance to search for the tracks of the creatures. Along the way, you will encounter plenty of Beast Fur. Not far ahead, another cutscene occurs where Eric gets caught by the Stitch Spider. After the story, you will initiate the battle with the Stitch Spider.
Stitch Spider Move Analysis
Single-handed Claw Strike
The spider will first extend one of its arms to charge up. After a few seconds, the extended arm will attack forward at a rapid speed. As soon as you see the wind-up, quickly move sideways to evade. This move is commonly used by the Stitch Spider and may feature a two-hit variant.
Foreleg Spike
Prior to using this move, the spider will lift one of its legs and stay still for a moment. After the charging state ends, it will slam the lifted leg down onto the ground. As soon as you see the wind-up, move to the opposite side to dodge.
Tail Stab
The Stinger Spider lifts its rear and reveals its tail spikes, charging briefly before slamming the tail to the ground, causing minor area damage. This is the easiest move to evade, as the wind-up isn't very obvious.
Blooming Red Flowers
After a short charge, the Stinger Spider opens its small red flowers and shoots numerous narcotic red petals backward. Players who come into contact with the petals will accumulate a narcotic status; when the status bar in the upper left corner fills up, they will fall into a state of paralysis and unable to move. Thus, it's crucial to evade the trajectory of the red flowers.
Double Claw Ground Smash
The Stinger Spider extends its two front claws and begins to charge. A few seconds later, it slams down hard, leaving a reaction time for players. Upon seeing the wind-up, immediately roll to the sides rather than forward or backward.
Quest Progression and Key Monsters
After completing the quest, return to the storyline where Nata joins Olivia's team.
Speak with Gemma at the camp and the blacksmith to initiate the next mission. Following the instructions, head towards the simple camp, where you'll find numerous forest orcs. After the cutscene, use your mount to automatically navigate to the orc settlement.
Upon conversing with the representative of the orc tribe, you will learn that you need to eliminate a monster known as the Peach Fur Beast King before they will allow you to establish a temporary camp in the forest.
Reaching the Peach Hair Beast King
Use the mounting auto-navigation feature to directly reach the position of the Peach Hair Beast King and begin the battle. The weak point of the Peach Hair Beast King is its rear, while its head (Peach Hair Beast King's Tooth), tail (Peach Hair Beast King's Fur), and front legs (Peach Hair Beast King's Claw) can all be destroyed to drop specific materials.
Peach Hair Beast King's Move Analysis
Front Paw Attack
The Peach Hair Beast King quickly raises its front paw toward the direction it is facing without much windup, delivering a rapid attack. As soon as you see the paw lift, you need to immediately distance yourself or defend against it.
Front Paw Slam
The Peach Hair Beast King stands up and raises both hands in preparation, waiting until charging is complete to slam down toward the ground. There is a noticeable windup, giving you sufficient time to evade when you see it preparing.
Foul Vapor Mist 1
The Peach Hair Beast King releases a foul mist that can inflict debuffs. Make sure to stay alert and evade as necessary.

Felyne Beast King's Yellow Gas Attack
With a low roar, the Felyne Beast King’s head sinks in, and it begins to release yellow gas from its mouth. After charging, it opens its jaws and unleashes a large amount of yellow gas, dealing damage and applying debuffs. This move has a clear wind-up, and players on the sides of the monster's mouth may not take damage. When you see the wind-up, simply move slightly to the side and continue attacking.
Foul Gas Spray 2
The Felyne Beast King rises, its belly suddenly expanding. After a brief wind-up, it sprays a large amount of yellow gas forward. This is the most obvious wind-up move; seeing it, players should quickly move behind the beast and continue to attack.
Foul Gas Spray 1 (After)
The aftermath of this attack can be quite dangerous, so remain vigilant and prepared to evade.

Peach Fur Beast King's Stink Spray Attack
The Peach Fur Beast King performs a small jump, raising its tail and backside slightly, then swiftly emits a foul-smelling spray from its rear. This attack often appears when players try to flank it from behind. The most notable aspect is the small jump that precedes the move.
Stink Spray 2 (After)
The Peach Fur Beast King shifts to a standing posture, roaring and extending its claws. At this moment, it releases a significant amount of yellow gas from its backside. This attack is dangerous because its wind-up looks very similar to other lunging attacks, creating confusion for players.
Rolling Charge
First, the Peach Fur Beast King lets out a low roar, opens its claws, and holds momentarily to gather strength before charging in the direction it is facing and rolling to deal damage. The best time to dodge this attack is during the wind-up phase when the Peach Fur Beast King is preparing the charge, as it has a considerable recovery period afterward, providing a good opportunity to strike its weak points.
Jump Attack
The Peach Wolf King gathers its four legs together, lowers its head, and after a brief charge, leaps forward in the direction it is facing. Upon observing this pre-animation, move towards the Peach Wolf King's position, and after it completes the leap, turn and continue your attack.
Front Claw Quadruple Strike
The Peach Wolf King assumes the posture shown in the image below, quickly swinging its front claws four times at a faster speed, eventually falling to the ground with a brief recoil. Be prepared to quickly react to the pre-animation and immediately enter a dodging or defensive state, then attack during its subsequent recoil.
Completing the Quest
After completing the quest, enter the cutscene and return to the camp to unlock the "Secondary Mission" function, which includes side quests.
Side Quest - Fishing is Life
The main camp location in the Scarlet Forest is straightforward. Head deeper into the forest, where you will find a small pond with Kania marked by a yellow icon above her head. Interact with her to accept the side quest Fishing is Life.
Open your item menu and select the fishing rod from the fixed items section. You can start fishing directly at the quest location.
Cast your rod into the pond, and use the movement keys to maneuver the bait next to the fish to significantly increase your catch success rate.
When a fish bites, you will notice clear ripple effects on the water's surface. At this point, pull the rod to complete the fishing action, and then talk to the NPC who gave you the quest to finish this side mission.
Mission 1-4: The Dignity of Hunters
At the tent in Crimson Forest, converse with Alma and choose to proceed into the storyline. During the cutscene, we discover traces of various beasts and need to quickly inform the villagers of Wind Sound Village to evacuate. Isa tells us that to persuade the village elder, we need to find Zagtow.
Travel directly on a dragon via automatic navigation and observe Zagtow being pursued by a group of Sand Sea Dragons. After some interaction, we engage in a battle with the Sand Sea Dragon.
Sand Sea Dragon Move Analysis
Ranged Attacks
The Sand Wyvern's Attacks
The Sand Wyvern lifts its upper body to charge, briefly moving forward before unleashing a large amount of venom in the direction it is facing. This move has a shorter wind-up time, so you need to react quickly to avoid being hit and suffering a DEBUFF effect.
Bite
Before executing this attack, the Sand Wyvern will open its mouth to charge, which is a clear animation. As soon as you see this movement, be ready to defend or dodge.
Tail Sweep
This attack generally occurs when the player is continually circling behind the monster. The Sand Wyvern will momentarily stop moving, lifting its tail slightly to aim at the player, while its head will turn to the side to keep an eye on the player. When this animation occurs, a tail sweep will follow, so always be aware of this movement while targeting the tail.
Leap Attack
[Your content regarding the Leap Attack goes here.]
Sandsea Dragon’s Coiling Attack
The Sandsea Dragon coils itself up. During this action, it does not inflict damage to the players. After a brief moment, it burrows underground and waits for a few seconds before re-emerging from below, jumping to another side. This attack is quite favorable, as the time spent underground is enough for players to walk far away from the area.
Tail Whip Charge
The Sandsea Dragon arches its body, bringing its tail and head closer to form an S shape. After a brief charge, the tail will directly rush towards the monster’s line of sight. Upon seeing this wind-up, players must quickly dodge to the sides; otherwise, they will suffer significant damage.
Sand Pit
Before using this attack, the Sandsea Dragon will roar a few times, then burrow into the sand to create a massive sand pit. After a few seconds, the Sandsea Dragon will leap out directly from the center of the pit to attack the player. When the sand pit is being created, it is crucial to immediately distance yourself from the area, as the allowance for defense or evasion is incredibly low.
After the Battle
After the battle, talk to Zadro again and return to the village, but it is too late. The beast begins to wreak havoc in the village. Once the perspective shifts back to the player, quickly use the grappling hook to open the adjacent fence, allowing the livestock to escape. Follow the beast by automatically moving along the path.
Entering the Beast Herd
Once you enter the herd, continuously attack the beast marked with indicators and glowing red. After a dialogue prompts, guide it away from the monsters, and the dragon riding will automatically follow the path. After the ensuing cutscene, prepare for battle against the beast.
Beast Attack Analysis
Front Claw Strike
The Front Claw Strike is a powerful attack where the beast lunges forward, aiming at the player.
招式名稱 | 描述 |
---|---|
前爪撲擊 | 猛撲對手,以巨大的力量造成傷害。 |
Claw Attack
This attack has a range limited to the side where the monster raises its single claw. Before the attack, the monster pauses briefly after lifting its claw. Simply moving away slightly will help you avoid it.
Bite Attack
The monster opens its mouth and roars, then immediately turns to attack the player. Pay special attention to the initial roar; failing to notice it can result in a difficult-to-evade subsequent bite attack.
Head Sweep
The monster will let out a roar before sweeping its head close to the ground in a circle. Most of the monster's attacks are preceded by a roar, so it’s essential to keep a close eye on the monster's head movements.
Attack Range Technique
The attack range of this technique is not large, and taking a step back immediately can basically avoid it.
Howl Charge
The beast lets out a fierce roar and then bows its body to gather power, charging forward a short distance towards its line of sight after a few seconds. It's necessary to move sideways in time, as evading from the front is quite challenging.
Mission Completion
After the battle, you will automatically navigate back to the village to trigger a cutscene and complete this mission.
Chapter 1-5: Beyond the Torrential Rain
Talk to Nata at the entrance of the desert base to begin the mission "Chasing Solitude." This will lead to a cutscene before automatically riding a dragon to engage in battle with Boi Dragon.
Understanding the Characteristics of the Wave Dragon
The Wave Dragon has two forms. The first form features a dragon-like appearance with a large amount of transparent feather apparel. When players attack these wings, the HP displayed is blue, which does not contribute to the Wave Dragon's actual HP. Once players deplete this blue HP to a certain extent, the Wave Dragon will transition into its second state.
In the second state, the Wave Dragon withdraws its feather apparel. At this point, attacking the Wave Dragon can deal significant damage, and its weak spot is its mouth.
Wave Dragon Move Analysis
Single-Handed Slam
The Wave Dragon raises one hand to charge and then slams it down to the ground. The entire process is relatively slow, making it easy for players to dodge.
Rising Pounce
Boi Dragon Attack Patterns
The Boi Dragon raises half of its body to charge slowly, then rolls in place to deal area damage. This move has a noticeable wind-up, and the best strategy is to move away from it.
Dashing Dive
The Boi Dragon will stand tall and arch its body to charge for a few seconds, then it will pounce directly at the target to perform a double strike. Pay close attention to the wind-up for this movement, as the Boi Dragon's dive is quick. It's necessary to recognize this action early and find cover or move away immediately.
Post-Battle Scene
After the battle concludes, a cutscene will play where the Boi Dragon is defeated by a surprise attack from the Lockblade Dragon. Although we did not defeat it ourselves, we can still harvest materials from the Boi Dragon's corpse. Finally, speak with Ovilia to complete this quest.
2-1: The Red Castle Approach
Start by talking to Alma at the campsite, then simply ride the dragon to follow the path. After triggering the cutscene, the group decides to head to the third area, the Oil Valley.
Upon arriving at the village, follow the prompts and engage in conversations with numerous NPCs. In the final dialogue with the elder man, choose to assist the little girl from before. After the scene concludes, talk to Alma to trigger the next segment. The path will lead you automatically to the destination, where a cutscene will begin and you will confront the Dung Beetle Dragon.
Strategies for the Dung Beetle Dragon
Range Oil Sludge
This attack creates a wide area of oil that can hinder your movement. Stay agile and avoid standing in the puddles to minimize the risk of damage.
Subterranean Dragon's Explosive Attack
The Subterranean Dragon will insert its lower body into the mud and begin to charge up. After a few seconds, it will unleash an explosive attack that affects a wide area. Upon noticing this pre-attack animation, it is crucial to immediately distance yourself from the vicinity of the Subterranean Dragon.
Quick Jab
Before executing this move, the Subterranean Dragon will arch its upper body, shaking its head multiple times like a fly. After this brief animation, it will charge forward with a short, quick jab attack targeting its desired opponent.
Tail Sweep
This move has virtually no windup, so players must be familiar with the monster's patterns to anticipate it. The Subterranean Dragon rapidly sweeps its tail in a horizontal attack.
Claw Strike
The Subterranean Dragon swiftly strikes with its front claws at players. The speed of this attack is very fast and has almost no windup, so it's essential to pay close attention to the monster's claw movements during combat.
Explosive Transmission
The Swamp Dragon inserts its tail into the sludge, starting to channel energy, causing an explosion at a nearby location. The impending explosion will be indicated by smoke, so maneuvering away in advance is recommended.
Front Claw Strike
The Swamp Dragon stands upright and raises its front claws to charge, then strikes the targeted player with its claws after a few seconds. The wind-up animation is relatively long and clear, making it easy to dodge.
After defeating the Swamp Dragon, the two little girls were successfully rescued. They returned with quality oil, and the Fire Festival successfully commenced. However, due to unknown reasons, the festival failed. While everyone searched for the cause, Zatu suddenly received news that Wind Sound Village was in trouble, prompting everyone to return to the village with Zatu.
In this section, we will discuss the confrontation weapons highlighted in the battle against Alma. After speaking with Alma, return to the desert. Follow the guide to automatically navigate to the destination, where you will discover the previous clashes between the Lockjaw Dragon and the Flash Thunder Dragon. Eventually, after the Flash Thunder Dragon is defeated, it becomes enraged and initiates combat once more.
Analysis of Flash Thunder Dragon's Attacks
Single Wing Slash
The Flash Thunder Dragon takes to the air, tilting its body sideways, and then thrusts its wings into the ground moving toward the target. The area that the wings pass over will inflict damage.
This attack also has a grounded version, but the range and speed are noticeably inferior to its aerial counterpart.
Dual Horn Stab
Kiranra's Charge Attack
Kiranra will step back a few paces and spread its wings, lowering its center of gravity. The horns on its head will begin to charge up, and after a few seconds, Kiranra will thrust its head toward the target to deal damage. This move has a clear wind-up and a long charge time, providing ample opportunity to decide whether to dodge or defend and look for a counterattack.
Tail Swipe
This attack usually occurs when players are constantly circling behind. Before using this move, Kiranra will raise its rear and lift its hind leg, then immediately swing its tail down toward the ground. As soon as you see its tail elevate, prepare to defend or dodge; you only need to move a bit to the side of the tail to avoid the attack.
Flying Thunderstrike
Kiranra charges up in advance, then suddenly flies into the air to charge again while aiming at the target before launching a powerful electric ranged attack. This move is easy to avoid; as soon as you see the wind-up, you can move preemptively to dodge, and players will be able to spot the enemy's aiming position in advance.
This move also has a landing version, which charges faster, requiring players to react quickly.
Sky Hammer Strike
This attack has a noticeable retreat motion before it occurs; when you see the Glimmering Thunder Dragon flying and suddenly retreating upward, it indicates that it is about to charge for a ground strike. You need to prepare for defense or dodge directly.
After defeating the Glimmering Thunder Dragon, everyone starts to question the connection between the Twin Blades Dragon and the weather. After conversing with the people in Wind Sound Village, we decide to head back to Fire Kiln Village.
Returning to Fire Oven Village
Once again, head to Fire Oven Village and talk to the NPC near the guidance point. Then, mount the dragon and let it automatically navigate to your destination, where you'll find an icy plain. Collect Warm Soft Mantle Bug or Chili Pepper to make hot drinks and avoid stamina reduction. Then continue riding the dragon to trigger a battle with the Shadow Spider.
Shadow Spider Attack Analysis
Long-Range Silk Spit
The Shadow Spider suddenly stands on its hind legs and charges its tail. After a few seconds, it shoots a large amount of silk into the visible area. Getting touched by the silk will trap you.
Step Back Silk Spit
This move poses a significant threat. The Shadow Spider suddenly shifts its weight backward, arching its body, and then performs a large jump backward while spitting a strand of silk toward the player. Once caught, it will follow up with a long combo attack.
Avoiding Monster Attacks
When you see the monster begin its wind-up motion, quickly dodge and call your mount to change position. Attack the monster during its recovery after the claw attack.
Silk Spit Charge
The shadow spider suddenly arches back and spits a strand of silk toward its line of sight, then charges a short distance in that direction. Simply move out of the shadow spider's line of sight to avoid it.
Long Claw Attack
The shadow spider opens its mouth wide, and at this moment, its two claws will elongate in succession as it begins to charge up. Once fully charged, the monster will snap its claws together, dealing damage. The wind-up time is considerable; as long as you aren't caught in the silk, you can practically dodge it. The recovery time is also quite pronounced, giving you a great chance to attack.
Double Claw Attack
Details on this attack will continue in the next sections, focusing on identifying the timing and best strategies to counter it.
Preparation Before Attacking
Before using this attack, the spider will lift its claws to charge. Once charged, it will attack in the direction it is facing. As soon as you see the charging motion, start to evade and simply maneuver around.
Pounce Attack
The phantom spider adjusts its center of gravity, supported by its two hind legs, and after a brief charge, it pounces towards the area in front of it. This attack is relatively easy to dodge.
It's important to note that this attack also has a hind leg variant.
Ceiling Web Attack
Before performing this move, the spider will look up at the ceiling, briefly sway forward, and then attach itself to the ceiling to spit a series of webs at its target. When you see the forward sway, immediately call your mount and start moving around.
Burrow and Ambush Attack
This attack allows the spider to dig into the ground and ambush unsuspecting hunters. Be vigilant and keep an eye on the ground for any signs of disturbance.
Shadow Spider Encounter
The Shadow Spider will suddenly burrow underground, triggered only at fixed locations with spider webs. When you see the monster dive below, immediately call your mount to move away and wait for the spider to emerge.
After defeating the Shadow Spider, talk to Liu Lang to enter the next node. Then, have another conversation with Liu Lang at the simple camp to ride a dragon to the next camp location.
At the new camp, sequentially talk to your three teammates to trigger the hunting node for Wind Serpent. Summon your mount and it will automatically guide you to the combat location.
Wind Serpent Move Set Analysis
Thrust: This move is extremely fast. The Wind Serpent will first charge in mid-air, its body suddenly moving upward and then rotating, followed by an instant thrust towards the target location.

Movement and Dodging
Upon seeing the monster's animation for its attack, immediately start dodging and move away from your previous position. After performing this move, Wind Serpent Ibushi will temporarily insert its head into the ground and become immobile; seize this opportunity to deal maximum damage.
Continuous Spitting
Wind Serpent Ibushi will first flip in the air and then spread its wings, locking onto its target. It will then unleash a series of long-range attacks towards the target.
Melee Triple Hit
The attack sequence is: 1 claw strike followed by 2 bites. Wind Serpent Ibushi will rise up to charge its claws and then strike, quickly followed by two biting attacks. There is a 2-second pause between the bites, so it's crucial to dodge and defend with rhythm and thoughtfulness.
Tail Strike
This attack involves the monster swinging its tail in the air with no prior animation. Be particularly cautious of this move when your enemy is airborne.
Rolling Attack
The ground attack occurs when the Windscaled Dragon lands and arches its body into an S shape. After a brief charge, it rolls toward its target direction. The rolling distance is short, making it possible to defend or dodge by rolling.
Defeat the Windscaled Dragon
Defeating the Windscaled Dragon will trigger a cutscene, completing this main mission.
2-4 Ancient Fire
Follow the instructions and talk to Werner to trigger a cutscene. After the group successfully holds the Fire Celebration, a large number of Heiyan Beasts suddenly attack, and we have no choice but to fight back.
Ground Slam
The Heryan Beast will suddenly stand and raise its hands to charge up, then hammer down to the ground causing area damage. After the Heryan Beast slams the ground, there are a few seconds of recovery, making it a good opportunity to attack.
Single Claw Strike
The Heryan Beast raises one claw and immediately attacks the target. The speed isn't very fast, making it easier to dodge and defend against.
Rock Toss
The Heryan Beast will insert one arm into the ground to charge up and then consecutively throw two rocks at the player. There is a 2-second interval between the two attacks, which makes it easier to dodge with good timing.
Side Roll Assault
This move involves rolling to the side and can be aimed towards the player. It requires good timing to avoid as it can catch players off guard.
Hephaestus Beast Attacks
The Hephaestus Beast stands up and prepares to slam the ground with one side of its body, as shown in the image below. After the initial slam, it will launch a distance attack toward its target. For many new players, this move's second strike is the easiest to be caught off guard by. It is advisable to keep your distance when you see this attack, waiting for it to finish before moving back in for damage.
Double Slam
With only a single roar before the attack, the Hephaestus Beast will strike the ground twice in quick succession at a moderate pace. After the strikes, it is best to retreat and wait for an opportunity to attack once more.
Tail Strike
The Hephaestus Beast lies on the ground, looking towards its target, while its tail forms an S-shape as it charges up. After this, the tail will strike the target directly. The wind-up for this attack is not long but is quite obvious. Being aware of this wind-up can help in dodging and responding effectively.
Lava Attack [Red Hot State]
The Fire Beast will plunge its hand into the ground and start charging up, emanating a crimson light from its body and the ground. Upon completing the charge, it releases a large amount of lava in the area in front of it. Immediately move away from the front zone of the Fire Beast to avoid the ensuing lava.
Ground Spike [Red Hot State]
Known for its instant execution, the Fire Beast will embed its arm into the ground and then swiftly charge forward in the direction it is facing. If you see the arm inserting into the ground, quickly retreat as this attack has lateral and rear hit zones.
Double Hand Slam [Red Hot State]
This move involves the Fire Beast standing tall, raising both hands to charge up, and then slamming the ground. This attack will also cause lava to erupt in a straight line in front of it, necessitating that players dodge to the sides or backwards.
Climbing Slam
The Fire Beast will climb up before delivering a ground slam. Timing your dodges is crucial to avoid this powerful move.
Encountering the Fiery Beast
The Fiery Beast leaps and clings to the ceiling, briefly hovering before crashing down towards its target, causing area damage. Upon witnessing this movement, immediately summon your mount and start moving swiftly to avoid being caught.
Spinning Explosion Technique
The Fiery Beast curls into a spinning shape at a rapid pace before launching itself into the air, creating a massive explosive impact upon landing. This is its highest damage move; once you see the enemy become a spinning top, quickly move away as you have a longer reaction time to dodge.
Returning to the Village
After defeating the Fiery Beast, return to the village, only to find more enemies approaching. At this moment, a mysterious creature sweeps through, scattering the Fiery Beast and quickly fleeing. Our next mission is to track down this creature and defeat it.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ancient Black Flame Guide
To unlock the Ancient Black Flame quest, start at the lowest level of the Oil Hill in the game map. Control your mount to move around, and shortly after, you will trigger the message "This seems like traces of a monster." After this, follow the guiding bug to interact with a carcass, then reopen the map to find the location of the Black Flame.
Inferno Octopus Attack Techniques
Thrust Attack
The Inferno Octopus will raise its two front tentacles and then dash quickly towards the player. Due to the size of the Inferno Octopus, you must immediately reposition yourself as you see it charging up for the thrust.
Tentacle Whip
This attack involves the Inferno Octopus whipping its tentacles around to deal damage. Ensure to keep a safe distance and observe the octopus’s movements to dodge effectively.
Fiery Squid Attack Patterns
The Fiery Squid raises a tentacle glowing with blue light, and after a brief charge, swings it directly at the target. When you see the tentacle, you can either prepare to defend or dodge early, as there is enough time to react.
Body Slam
The Fiery Squid curls its body and maintains a standing posture, then briefly charges forward. There is no damage hitbox on the sides or back, allowing you to attack safely.
Fire Breath
The Fiery Squid will only use this attack when it enters an ignited state. Initially, it stands upright and then performs a noticeable head tilt charge before unleashing a large amount of flames at the target. Since the attack covers a large area, use a mount to quickly distance yourself from the front area of the monster after witnessing the wind-up motion.
Fireball Release
The Fiery Squid creates and launches fireballs in various directions. Be vigilant and evade them as they explode upon impact, dealing heavy damage if you are caught in their blast radius.
Defeating the Abyssal Flame Octopus
When the Abyssal Flame Octopus enters its ignited state, it uses this powerful move. The octopus first arches its body, charging for 2 seconds, and then rapidly spreads all of its tentacles to unleash a barrage of fireballs in all directions. The density and range of the fireballs are quite large, so it is advisable to call your mount and move away from the enemy's surrounding area as soon as you see its initial movement. Wait for the move to finish before re-entering.
Successfully defeating the Abyssal Flame Octopus leads directly into the storyline, where the Fire Pit Village hosts the Flame Festival, and we complete our major mission in the Fire Pit Village.
3-1: Eternal Guardian [Protector Beast]
First, follow the instructions and talk to the NPCs at the campsite in order.
Unlocking Equipment Gems in Monster Hunter Wilds

After this, the perspective returns to us as we progress towards the homeland of Nata. Following a sequence of events, we will be thrust directly into a battle with the Guardian Beast.
Guardian Beast Attack Analysis
Single Claw Strike
The Guardian Beast stands on its hind legs, raises one claw to charge, and then slams it down towards the target. Afterward, it continues to charge forward for a distance. This attack features multiple hit damage; if caught, it can drain a significant amount of health. Thus, upon seeing its preliminary motion, be ready to roll away swiftly. Note that there is a variation of this attack where the beast merely strikes without plunging its claws into the ground.
Ground Tackle
This maneuver resembles the side tackle of the Flaming Beast. The Guardian Beast first lays its head on the ground and then swiftly charges towards the target direction.
Short Lunge Attack
The wind-up is very brief but quite noticeable. Once you see the monster lean forward, it's best to roll sideways to avoid it.
Multi-Hit Stab
This move's wind-up resembles a dog standing up in reality, with its front legs curled and head tilted forward. After a brief pause, it lunges straight ahead to inflict multiple hits. As soon as you see the monster in the stance shown below, quickly move to the side and behind it to wait for the attack to finish.
Ground Slam
The beast stands upright, spreading its arms and emitting a white light. Once it charges up, it slams the ground to cause area damage. This attack has a large range, so you must dodge immediately.
After Defeating the Guardian Beast
Once you defeat the Guardian Beast, return to the temporary camp and speak with Nata. Select the option to continue the story and head to the ruins of Nata's village. You'll discover that Nata's companions are still alive, but suddenly, a Fire Dragon appears to disrupt the situation, triggering a battle against the Fire Dragon.
Chapter 13: The Eternal Guardian - Fire Dragon
Fire Dragon Move Set Analysis
Flying Claw Strike
Before using this move, the Fire Dragon will maintain a lowered center of gravity pose. It then quickly flies up into the sky, revealing its claws to attack the target area. The range of this attack is quite large, and it may also have a hitbox at the landing area behind it, so it's advisable to summon your mount and move to dodge.
Biting Attack
The monster does not have much of a wind-up, simply moving its head towards the target to bite. The damage dealt is also low, so it is advisable to develop a dodging plan based on the weapon being used, whether to directly trigger a precise defense or to roll to evade.
Fire Breath
Before using this attack, the Fire Dragon will noticeably reveal embers from its mouth, accompanied by a long wind-up where it lowers its head. During this time, you can move to the side of its head and continue your attack.
Sky Fireball Combo
The Fire Dragon flies into the air, with various embers visible from its mouth. After a brief charge, it unleashes a series of fireballs towards its target. At this moment, you can directly ride and move around to avoid the fireballs, which will mostly miss you.
Flying Tail Sweep
Guardian Dragon's Aerial Attack
The Guardian Dragon flies into the air, raising the end of its tail high to charge up, then slams it down onto its target, causing area damage. When you see the Guardian Dragon take off, quickly summon your mount to move away; during this time, it is usually safe from dragon attacks, ensuring you will not take damage.
Stomp Attack
During this attack, the Guardian Dragon's claws emit white flames, flying temporarily into the air before crashing down, causing area damage. When you see the claws glowing with white flames and the dragon flying, immediately move away from that area as this indicates the dragon will land with a powerful stomp.
Post-Defeat Scene
After defeating the Guardian Dragon, a story scene will trigger, leading you to follow the NPC into the Guardian's village. Here, we can gain insights about the truth behind the White Solitary Shadow from the old man.
3-1 Guardian of Eternity: The Shield Chain Dragon
After the story concludes, speak with Taken to trigger another scene. While everyone is conversing, the white solitary figure, known as the Shield Chain Dragon, suddenly appears and disrupts the discussion, forcing us into battle.
Shield Chain Dragon's Moves Analysis
Retreating Chain Strike: The Shield Chain Dragon first raises its side limbs to build up energy, then immediately leaps back, swinging its chains towards the target. The attack range is not very large, and a slight movement is enough to evade the attack.
One-Claw Chain Strike: A commonly used move where the Shield Chain Dragon curls its attacking wing and chain to build up energy, then directly swings it towards the player. If you see the preceding action, be prepared to defend or move to evade.
Chain Whip Attack
The monster begins its attack by raising its arm, using its momentum to swing the chain down towards the player. Although the chain itself has a relatively narrow hitbox, its unpredictability and short wind-up can make it difficult to evade in time. Players should practice to develop muscle memory for better response.
Chain Thrust
The chain dragon leaps into the air, striking a pose before launching its chain towards the target. This is a quick thrust followed by the chain swing. Players can use the terrain to dodge this attack, but the wind-up is not very obvious, which can lead to unexpected hits if players are not careful.
Tail Whip
The tail whip is another common attack that can catch players off guard. It's crucial to stay aware of the monster's movements and anticipate its next action to avoid taking damage.

Defeating the Guardian and Moving to the Frosty Cliff
After defeating the Guardian, the team has a new direction to head towards: the Frosty Cliff, where the main mission with the Guardian has already concluded.
Page 15: 3-2 Toward the Frozen Summit
Open the map and teleport to the main camp in the Frosty Cliff area. Speak with Olivia at the entrance, then mount a dragon to automatically head to the location of Liu Lang to trigger the story.
Entering Frostfang Beast Territory
In the storyline, we directly invade the territory of the Frostfang Beast, reluctantly forced to initiate combat. During the pre-battle segment, simply hold down the acceleration button and ignore everything else.
Frostfang Beast Move Analysis
Bite Attack
The Frostfang Beast raises its claws and stands up to charge, then slams down in front of it, causing area damage. Since the Frostfang Beast moves relatively slowly, it is advisable to distance yourself as soon as you see the initial wind-up of this move.
Chomp
The Frostfang Beast turns its head towards the target and opens its mouth, completing the charge after about 2 seconds before lunging at the target. You can identify the type of attack from the stance of the Frostfang Beast’s mouth.
Thrust
[Content for Thrust attack will be added here]
Frostfang's Charge
Frostfang raises one hand and opens its mouth wide, charging up before lunging directly at its target. Due to its larger size, it doesn't move very quickly, making it easy to evade by moving to the side.
Paw Strike
Frostfang places its claws in front of its chest, coating them with a layer of ice. After a brief charging period, it slams down on one side with its paw.
Tail Swipe
Before using this attack, Frostfang will perform a noticeable tail wagging motion while remaining still, and its head will turn toward the location it plans to attack. At this moment, it's best to move away to avoid the strike.
Ice Breath
This move is executed almost instantly with little to no charging action. Initially, it may not be obvious, but as it unleashes its breath, it will fire a straight line followed by a horizontal blast.
Best Evade Timing
The best time to evade is during the initial straight-line breath attack. After that, look for cover to avoid the subsequent horizontal breath attack.
Devastating Explosion
The Frost Peak Dragon's instant kill move involves briefly charging up before encasing itself in ice. During this time, rocky cover will appear on the battlefield. Players must hide behind this cover and wait for the attack to end. Failing to do so will result in an instant kill.
Progressing the Story
After repelling the Frost Peak Dragon, follow the prompts to enter Long-Eared Village and trigger the cutscene. Once the dialogue concludes, the new feature "Mysterious Alchemy" will be unlocked. Continue following the prompts to trigger the dining cutscene, and upon its conclusion, this main mission will be completed.
3-3 The Cycle of Life
Teleport to the Dragon City Ruins and have a dialogue with Tasin. The dragon riding will automatically trigger the encounter until you face the Guardian Claw Dragon.
Guardian Claw Dragon Move Analysis
Bite Thrust
The pre-motion is obvious; the Guardian Claw Dragon opens its large mouth horizontally, charging with red lightning for 2-3 seconds before thrusting directly towards the target location.
Roll Claw Attack
The Guardian Claw Dragon shifts its weight to the right, opening its blood-red mouth. After a brief charge, it jumps into the air, attacking with its claws and then landing behind using momentum.
Double Roll Attack
In this move, the Guardian Claw Dragon performs a swift roll followed by two consecutive slashes, showcasing its agility and power. Be prepared to dodge effectively.
Protective Claw Dragon
The Protective Claw Dragon first stands on its hind legs to charge, then delivers a claw strike followed by a tail whip, executing a two-hit combo.
Spinning Attack
The Protective Claw Dragon lowers its center of gravity and briefly charges up, then lunges at the target and quickly returns to its original position.
Single Claw Strike
This is a very ordinary move where it raises its claw to charge and then swings it, with no special effects; the wind-up is noticeably slow.
After defeating the Protective Claw Dragon, another hidden monster, the Dark Tool Octopus, suddenly appears and drags us along with the dragon's corpse back to its cave, triggering a two-part battle.
Dark Tool Octopus Move Analysis
Jumping Stab
This move involves the Dark Tool Octopus leaping towards its target with a quick stab.
Abyssal Cephalopod Attacks
The Abyssal Cephalopod jumps into the air and swiftly moves next to the player, attacking from above with its sharp spikes. When it is airborne, it is nearly impossible to hit it directly.
This attack also has a variant where the monster jumps into the air, but instead of moving towards the player's position, it throws a barrage of spikes at the player from mid-air.
Ranged Attack
The Abyssal Cephalopod swings its tentacles to shoot a multitude of spikes at its target. There is also a variant of a double hit, with evasive maneuvers depending on the weapon.
Charge Attack
The Abyssal Cephalopod charges up with its head down and then quickly spins to dash towards the player. You need to predict its landing point in advance and dodge in the opposite direction.
Spinning Whip Strike
In this attack, the Abyssal Cephalopod performs a spinning strike with its tentacles, dealing heavy damage if not dodged in time.
Most Common Techniques
The Dark Ink Octopus gathers power in the pose shown below, then rotates to attack the surrounding area. You can evade this attack through blocking or rolling.
Single Whip Strike
This technique involves a single swing of the tentacle, which has a long attack range and quick speed. It is an easily overlooked attack that can cause a chain reaction.
Double Whip Strike
The Dark Ink Octopus positions its tentacles as shown in the image below, charges, and then thrusts at the opponent. This is a simple technique that is easy to counter.
Completing the Mission: The Cycle of Life
After defeating the Sneaky Octopus, we completed the main mission, "The Cycle of Life," and spoke with Natta to take on the next quest, "Dreamland of Dreams."
Encountering the Chainblade Dragon
As we journeyed with our companions to the lower level, we encountered the destructive Chainblade Dragon, which had been wreaking havoc on the environment. Thus, we found ourselves in a battle against this formidable foe.
Chainblade Dragon Attack Patterns
The Chainblade Dragon is now in its complete form, retaining previous attack patterns while introducing a variety of new moves.
Retreating Chainblade Strike
The Chainblade Dragon begins by raising one of its limbs to charge the attack, then leaps into the air combining the retreat with a strike where it whips the chains toward the target. The attack area is not too large, so a slight movement to the side will allow you to evade it.
Single-Claw Chain Strike
Details about this attack will follow in the next section.
Common Moves of the Lockblade Dragon
The Lockblade Dragon first charges its wings and coils up before unleashing an attack by swinging directly towards the player. Be prepared to defend or move to evade when you see the initial swing action.
Chain Whip Attack
This move starts without any delay, as the Lockblade Dragon simply raises its arm and swings down using inertia to lash out with its chain at the player. The chain itself is relatively thin and has a minor hit detection range. However, due to the unpredictable landing point and the brief windup time, it can be challenging to react in time. Continuous practice is necessary to build muscle memory for this move.
Chain Thrust
The Lockblade Dragon leaps into the air and strikes a pose as shown in the image below, swinging its chain towards the target. This move combines a quick lunge followed by a chain whip.
Terrain Evasion
You can avoid attacks by using the terrain, but the startup for this move is not very obvious, making it easy to be hit unexpectedly.
Tail Whip
This attack has a very quick startup with almost no wind-up, making it difficult to evade. It requires good muscle memory and a high level of familiarity with your weapon to counter effectively.
Blade Lock Explosion
The blade lock attack can be performed without swinging both claws. When the Blade Lock creature uses one of its claws, it temporarily enters a standby state, and an explosion will occur at the location where the blade was released shortly after. Therefore, it's essential to move away from the blade's location immediately, even if you haven’t been hit by it.
Rage Mode
Details about Rage Mode will be discussed in further content.
Introduction
As the high-pitched howl echoes, the body of the Protective Blade Dragon begins to emit white flames, which quickly transition to red, resulting in a large-area explosive damage to the front area. We need to move away from the front of the Blade Dragon before the color changes to red.
Continuous Jump
The Protective Blade Dragon initially spreads its white chains and emits white flames. After a brief charge, it jumps into the air and attacks the ground in an irregular path using its blade. When you see the Blade Dragon extending its blades with white flames, it generally indicates a large-area attack, requiring immediate defense preparations or summoning a mount to evade.
Blade Triple Hit
As the battle continues, players must be prepared for the Blade Dragon's three consecutive blade strikes, which can deal massive damage if not dodged timely. Keeping a safe distance is key to survival through these series of attacks.

After defeating the Guarding Blade Dragon and reaching the core of the dragon lamp, the team discovers a dragon inside that is constantly absorbing energy. Through subsequent story developments, it is revealed that the dragon inside is the Incandescent Dragon. The safest way to deal with this dragon is to shut down the dragon lamp, and the necklace belonging to Natta serves as the key to control the dragon lamp. The team decides to have the Bird Squad take the key back to the core of the dragon lamp to shut it down.
Monster Hunter Wilds: The Battle Against the Infernal Dragon
After the previous storyline concludes, a conversation with Nata beside your personal tent triggers a new event. You head back into the depths of the Dragon Lantern, where, considering Nata's feelings, the hunter decides to eliminate the Infernal Dragon. This marks the beginning of your battle with the Infernal Dragon.
The Infernal Dragon has no specific weaknesses; its head, wings, and front legs can be broken, while the tail can be severed. Though it appears intimidating, the Infernal Dragon is actually relatively easier compared to the larger dragons you've faced previously. If you're tackling it for the first time, calling for support hunters is advisable.
Position yourself by the feet of the Infernal Dragon and continuously attack. Due to its massive size, it lacks effective moves to target nearby characters. Just keep slashing away!
