Introduction

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Infernal Cephalopod is one of the large monsters inhabiting the Geyser Valley. For players looking to learn how to defeat it, please refer to the strategy and materials guide brought to you by "Wioud" below. This guide aims to assist all hunters.

Monster Information

The Infernal Cephalopod is a cephalopod that reigns at the top of the Geyser Valley's ecosystem. Typically, it is covered in a layer of oil sludge, but once excited, this sludge ignites, transforming it into a raging inferno. It is speculated that its eye and the eye-like tips of its tentacles may serve as sensory organs to perceive their surroundings, although this has yet to be confirmed.

Geyser Valley.

Weak Points

The weak point of the Infernal Cephalopod is its less obvious mouth, and hunters can damage its head, which can be broken. Additionally, the monster’s rear can be severed, leading to a high drop rate of materials from both the head and the rear.

How to Counter the Infernal Cephalopod's Attacks

Charge Attack: The Infernal Cephalopod will raise its two front tentacles and then quickly charge towards the player. Due to the large size of the Infernal Cephalopod, players must immediately reposition themselves as soon as they notice the wind-up before the charge.

Inferno Tentacle Slam

The Inferno Octopus raises a tentacle glowing with blue light and briefly charges up before swinging it directly towards its target. When you see the tentacle, you can either prepare your defense or dodge early, as there is ample time to react.

Inferno Tentacle Slam

Body Charge Attack

The Inferno Octopus curls its body and remains standing for a moment, then lunges forward. There is no damage detection on its sides or behind, allowing you to safely deal damage during this attack.

Body Charge Attack

Cocked Head Fire Breath

This attack is used when the Inferno Octopus enters its ignited state. It stands upright and displays a clear cocked head movement before unleashing a large amount of flames toward its target. Since the range is quite broad, it is advisable to summon your mount and move away from the area in front of the monster as soon as you see the initial wind-up.

Fireball Release

When the Inferno Octo enters a state of combustion, it will use this attack. The Inferno Octo first arches its body and charges for 2 seconds, then quickly spreads all its tentacles to launch a large number of fireballs in all directions. The density and range of the fireballs are substantial, so it's best to call your mount to move away from the vicinity of the enemy as soon as you see the pre-movement signal and wait for the attack to conclude before entering the battle on horseback.
