Platinum Trophy Explanation and Guide

Welcome Hunters to the Monster Hunter Wilds Platinum Guide!

This game’s trophy system is very similar to its predecessor, but it introduces many user-friendly designs that significantly lower the difficulty of obtaining the platinum trophy. For example, all materials will be marked on the map from the start; players can use the binoculars to observe monsters for reminders (large/small crowns); after discovering large/small crown monsters, players can save them as investigation missions, supporting online multiplayer collaboration to allow all participating teammates to earn the crowns. Solo players can use distress signals to summon three AI hunters in the hub for team battles. With these improved designs, players can collect large and small crowns alongside friends or other online players, using the binoculars to track different monsters and quickly team up after finding them, thus reducing the repetitive time spent farming for the crowns.

Moreover, achieving platinum still requires reaching hunter level 100, capturing 50 monsters, completing 100 multiplayer missions, and completing 100 missions while in a follower’s deployed state (up to 2 players in a team or solo mode with distress signals disabled). Additionally, the game features some minor optimizations such as faster load times, the ability to skip hunting timeline, automated mounts that seek out monsters (no more need to search for tracks), portable grills for cooking anywhere, and the ability to view each monster’s specific respawn time on the map.

Step 1: Complete the Main Storyline

First, focus on completing the main story quests. This will unlock all monsters and areas, allowing you to efficiently earn all the trophies. The main storyline consists of 6 chapters, and you must reach Hunter Level 40 to finish the entire campaign. Starting from Chapter 4, you must increase your Hunter Level to obtain new main story quests (by defeating monsters or completing side quests). Since you need to complete 30 side quests regardless, you can choose to do some side quests in the later stages when your level is not sufficient to progress in the main story. Additionally, some side quests unlock useful items and features, serving two purposes at once.

For trophies, the most efficient method is to team up with another player online to simultaneously progress through 100 multiplayer quests and 100 quests under the aid of followers. If the number of players in the team is too high, it may push out the follower positions. Solo players can summon 3 AI hunters using a rescue signal to aid in hunting, and this method can still be used after completing the game to farm the easiest monsters to finish the 100 online/follower quests.

Step 2: Farming Big and Small Zenies

To efficiently farm Zenies, focus on quests that yield high rewards for the time invested. Participate in events that offer bonuses on Zenies earned, and consider crafting items that can be sold for a profit. Always utilize your resources wisely and prioritize quests with material drops that can be sold in bulk.

Introduction to Gold Crown Monsters

In the current version of Monster Hunter Wilds, there are a total of 29 large monsters, of which 26 can obtain size crowns, resulting in a total of 52 gold crowns. Please refer to the large monster guide for more details. Unlike previous titles, this game has introduced several improvements that assist in hunting for size crowns, significantly reducing the required time:

Methods for Identifying Gold Crown Monsters

1. Use Binoculars to Confirm Size Crown: Carry binoculars and approach the monster (within about 50 meters). Observe the monster; if its size meets the gold crown standard, a gold crown icon will appear below its name. This method allows you to determine in advance whether a monster has a gold crown.

Tips for Efficiently Hunting Gold Crown Monsters

For optimal hunting, consider planning your expeditions around specific monster habitats and the time of day they appear to increase your chances of encountering gold crown variants.

Conclusion

With these strategies, you'll be well-equipped to track down and hunt for gold crown monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds, enhancing your gameplay experience.

Efficiently Collect Gold Crown Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, players can efficiently manage their hunt for Gold Crown Monsters by utilizing the following methods. First, when a Gold Crown Monster is discovered, players can press the Touchpad → □ Button to open the monster list. From there, they can select the targeted Gold Crown Monster and press the X Button to save it as an investigation mission (up to 50 can be saved). After completing area investigations, players can check their recent encounters and save missions through Alma. This mechanism allows players to challenge the same-sized monster three times, with a maximum of nine players sharing (one initiates the initial hunt + three investigation missions). Since the Gold Crown for the Great Wyrm is guaranteed, players need to save only 50 Gold Crown Monsters out of the available 51 in order to help others quickly obtain relevant trophies, shortening the lengthy collection process to just a few hours.

Quickly Refresh Map Monsters

At the portable grill, select “Rest” to adjust the weather and time of day in the map, which resets the full distribution of monsters across the area. If the targeted monster still does not appear, this operation can be repeated until it shows up.

How to Effectively Farm Gold Crown Monsters

To efficiently farm gold crown monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds, follow these methods:

①【SL Gold Farming (Offline Required)】:
Use the quest refresh timer displayed on the map. About 30 seconds before it refreshes, manually save your game (do not save less than 30 seconds). If the monster spawns without a gold crown, do not save; instead, return to the main menu and reload your previous save file, and repeat this process (trial once every minute). Ensure your save timing remains 30 seconds apart from the spawn timing; otherwise, you may lock the same-sized monster. Please remain offline while using this method.

②【Switching Online Lobbies】:
Continuously switch online lobbies to find rooms with quests containing the desired gold crown monster for hunting.

Step Three: Clearing Miscellaneous Trophies

Complete the remaining quests, such as side quests, unique trophies, reaching Hunter Rank 100, completing 100 multiplayer quests, achieving 100 missions while a companion is deployed, capturing 50 monsters, and hunting 50 large monsters at the apex of their ecosystems.

Each completed quest will count towards the trophy, and missions can be taken from Alma (Task Counter), or you can hunt any monsters in the open world to trigger hunting missions. During the 6 chapters of the main storyline, trophies will generally unlock automatically. You can check the number of completed quests in the menu under Hunter Info.

Continue Investigation Start

Proof of initial completion of the investigation mission.

In the open-world area, press the touch pad and then the □ button to display all trackable monsters on the map. Select any monster and press the × button to bring up the option to either immediately hunt or save it as an investigation mission. Choose to save as an investigation mission, then interact with Alma (Task Counter) and take on that mission from the investigation mission list. Completing any investigation mission will unlock the trophy.

Field Hunting

Proof of initial completion of the field investigation mission.

How to Engage Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

Press the touchpad and then press the square button to select a monster, after which you can choose to start a field investigation to battle it. Alternatively, you can directly attack the monster until a field investigation is automatically triggered, then defeat the monster. Field investigations are the most time-consuming type of quests in this game, and completing any one of them will allow you to unlock a trophy.

The First Step to Mutual Understanding

Proof of completing a secondary mission for the first time. Please refer to the explanation under the "Running Around" trophy in this article.

Running Around

Proof of completing 30 secondary missions. There are far more than 30 secondary missions in the game; you only need to complete any 30 of them to unlock the trophy. These missions can be gradually unlocked by progressing through the main storyline, reaching specific hunter levels, or completing prerequisite side quests. Whenever you see an NPC with a yellow exclamation mark above their head, it indicates that there is a mission available to take on. Missions related to hunting specific types of monsters are generally easier to complete. After accepting, simply interact with Alma to make your choice. More complex missions, such as capturing certain environmental species or fishing rare fish, can be more time-consuming.

First Fishing Experience

Proof of successfully fishing for the first time.

Unlocking the Fishing Feature

After talking to Kania in the main camp of Crimson Forest and completing the side quest Fishing is Life, you can unlock the fishing feature.

Well Cooked!

This achievement is for successfully cooking meat for the first time. Equip and use the Portable Campfire and select Grilling Meat (you must have raw meat in your item bar to grill). After you start grilling, wait for the hunter to flip the meat, then continue waiting a few seconds until the meat turns a cooked color. Press the 'X' button, and then you need to hit 'X' at a specific rhythm in the precise position to cut the meat, thus obtaining extra steak.

Does It Smell Good?

This achievement is for cooking at the campfire for the first time. Enter your personal tent in any main camp, switch to the Campfire Cooking Menu, and click on Campfire Cooking. Cooking any dish will unlock the achievement. You can also use the Portable Campfire to cook.

The Fallen Giant

This achievement is for successfully mounting a monster for the first time.

How to Ride Large Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

You need to jump onto the back of large monsters to ride them. The easiest way is to ride your mount, then press the × button to jump off and land on the back of the large monster. While riding, you can attack with a knife. After leaving the ride mode, you can immediately jump cup. Basically, you will automatically get the jump cup in the early stages without spending extra time grinding.

Assassin Hunter

A proof of successfully launching a surprise attack for the first time

Approach an unaware monster quietly (you can crouch while standing still by pressing the × button) or use a stealth suit. When you get close to the monster, you will see a button prompt. Press the ○ button to initiate the surprise attack.

Precision Sniper

A proof of successfully attacking weak points or wounds 50 times in concentration mode

When there is a wound on a monster, a red dot will appear (some monsters have blue wounds). Then press L1 to enter concentration mode and attack the wound until it breaks. Repeat this step on different monsters until you get the jump cup. As you play more, you will generally acquire this trophy automatically.

Coin Holder

Capture Proof of Creatures with Old Dragon Coins

To capture the small crab-like creature that glows with a golden light, use the capture net. This creature spawns on the surface and has a chance to appear on all maps. When the character gets close, Alma will trigger the dialogue hint, "Is that creature carrying something?" It is recommended to head to the connecting areas 2 and 6 in the Crimson Forest. There is a small puddle just before the Area 6, Flower Rock where this creature may spawn. Please note that the spawn is probabilistic; while there may be fixed spawn points, it will not appear 100% of the time. If you do not encounter it, you can quickly teleport to other maps to refresh the moss or simply set up a tent in the Flower Rock area for quick back-and-forth refreshing.

Monster Hunter Wilds Creature Capture

Stargazers

Proof of capturing a meteor-like glowing creature in the desert.

Capturing Glowing Blue Rodents in Monster Hunter Wilds

To catch the small, glowing blue rodent creatures in the Chasm Sand area at night, you need to ride your mount and use a capture net quickly, as they move extremely fast and have a very erratic movement pattern. The chase may last several minutes. You can use the Portable Campfire to rest and adjust the time to night, setting the environmental status to the Abundant Period. Note that this only refreshes them with a certain probability; there may be fixed spawning points, but they do not guarantee 100% appearance. If you can’t find them, you can quickly teleport to another map to refresh the moss or simply set up a tent at the oasis campsite in area 13 for quick back-and-forth refreshes.

Giant Squid Hunter: Proof of Catching a Giant Squid

Details about the Giant Squid Hunter and how to accomplish this remarkable feat will be published soon. Stay tuned for more updates!

Starting the Fishing Questline

To begin your journey, you must complete the fishing series of quests given by Kania. Kania is located at the Crimson Forest base, and you can identify her by the yellow quest marker when accepting tasks. The initial quest is titled "Fishing is Life." Completing this series will ultimately lead you to a special bait that you will need for your next fishing challenge. Once you reach the final stage of her fishing quests, equip your fishing rod and switch to the special bait to prepare for the capture of the giant squid.

Tips for Catching the Giant Squid

When you are ready to fish for the giant squid, pay attention to the following strategies:

  • Choose the right spot in the Crimson Forest where the giant squid is known to spawn.
  • Timing is crucial; attempt your catch during peak fishing hours.
  • Make sure to utilize the special bait effectively to attract the giant squid.

Conclusion

Fishing in Monster Hunter Wilds can be an exhilarating experience. With the right preparation and strategies, you’ll be well on your way to completing Kania’s fishing quests and catching that elusive giant squid!

Catch the Glowing Giant Squid in Monster Hunter Wilds

The giant squid emits a faint blue glow and can be found in the massive amber located in the Crimson Forest area 17. The weather must be extreme (requiring heavy rain). You can rest at a Portable Campfire or tent to change the environment to extreme weather and wait for the downpour. While fishing for the giant squid, a mini-game will be triggered where you must win in a struggle against the squid. Move the left joystick in the direction of the squid’s movement and wait until the squid becomes fatigued. Alternate pressing the left joystick up and down to reel it in. It is advisable to complete 3-4 reeling steps during the squid's exhaustion to drag it closer to the shore until it is finally caught. Note that environmental creatures have a chance to spawn; there may be fixed spawn points, but they will not always appear. If you don't encounter any, you can quickly teleport to another map to refresh the moss or simply set up a tent at the temporary camp in area 17 for quick back-and-forth refreshing.
