I have created a set that allows me to fully utilize the Red Blade Longsword when hitting weak points. I haven't set up the mechanical sword yet, but I feel my armor skills and decorations are already optimized. Since multiple players tend to target weak points, I've been using this setup mainly for solo hunts against dragons.
Mastering Blade Techniques in Monster Hunter Wilds
Using the Blade Strike 5 skill combined with Weakness Exploit 5 can yield significant damage when targeting weak spots. With the help of the Black Silk 2's Frenzy Virus, players can maintain a vast majority of their time under the effects of the Frenzy Virus's critical hit bonuses of 15 and 10, thanks to the No Me 3 enhancement. The weapon inherently provides a 20% crit chance, making it fairly easy to achieve a 95% crit rate by merely hitting weak spots without needing the True Sight 2. However, my obsessive nature drives me to use True Sight 2. If you don’t mind hitting 95% crit without the enhancement, I feel that focusing on improvements like Continuous Strength 2 or others might yield better results.
The remaining slots can be flexibly allocated to skills like Sheathe 3 and Defense Research, but primarily I focus on the core skills I mentioned earlier. After activating the Red Blade effect, I utilize the remaining weak spots for the Blade Slash.
Improving Your Build in Monster Hunter Wilds
This setup certainly has many areas for improvement. For instance, the overcharge level is only 4. I feel that if we used a mechanical great sword, it might be possible to boost the overcharge to level 5. I've got a Dragon Element Level 3 Continuous Boost jewel, and this sword naturally comes with a 3-level critical hit attribute. The dragon element stats are decent, so I thought about equipping it for testing. Unfortunately, during a training session, I found that the three successive red blade strikes did around 20 points less damage than when I had equipped the Overcharge Level 3. I'm not sure how well that wooden dummy absorbs dragon element attacks, but based on my tests, equipping an Overcharge Level 3 is still better than using the combined jewel I mentioned earlier. Moreover, I haven't included some skills that are quite friendly to the red blade style, like Critical Hit, because I feel there's no space to incorporate that while keeping the core skills intact.
