Stinging Spider

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Stinging Spider is one of the large monsters found in the Crimson Forest. For players looking to understand how to defeat it, below is a guide brought to you by "Wioud" covering strategies for taking down the Stinging Spider and a list of its drop materials. We hope this helps you on your hunting journey.

Monster Information

The Stinging Spider is a clawed creature that resides in the Crimson Forest, characterized by its dancer-like spinning movements. Its body fluid contains paralyzing neurochemical components, which, when mixed with water, forms a petal-like red fuzz on its abdomen. When excited, its abdomen unfolds like a giant red flower, hence the name “Stinging Spider.” It sprays a mixture of its body fluid and water like dandelion seeds, paralyzing any prey or foes that come into contact, which it then captures.

Habitat

Crimson Forest, Dragon City Ruins.

Weakness of the Thorn Spider

The weakness of the Thorn Spider lies in the needles on its tail. When the Thorn Spider enters a fatigue state, the needles will be fully exposed, and both the petal-like part at the tail and the two front claws can be destroyed.

Counter Strategies

One-Handed Claw Attack: The spider will extend one claw and begin to charge. After a few seconds, the extended claw will strike forward at high speed. When you see the wind-up, move sideways immediately to avoid the attack.

Front Leg Strike

Before executing this move, the spider lifts one leg and remains stationary for a moment. After the charging state ends, it strikes the ground with the raised leg. When you see this preliminary action, quickly move to the opposite side to evade.

Tail Spike Attack

The Blooming Spider raises its rear and reveals its tail spikes. After a brief charge-up, it slams the tail down to the ground, causing minor area damage. This is the best move to dodge, as the preliminary movement isn’t very obvious.

Tail Spike Attack

Blooming Red Flower

After a short charge-up, the Blooming Spider opens its small red flower and shoots many red flower petals filled with tranquilizers towards the back.

Understanding the Effects of Flower Accumulation

When players come into contact with flowers, they begin to accumulate a state of drowsiness. If the status meter in the upper left corner fills up slowly, players will fall into a state of drowsiness and become immobilized. Therefore, it is essential to avoid the movement trajectory of the red flowers.

Double Claw Slam Attack

The Thorn Spider will stretch out its two front claws to charge up and, after a few seconds, will smash them down onto the ground. There is a certain reaction time before the attack, so when you see the wind-up, roll to the sides instead of forward or backward.
