Overview of the Protector Beast
In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Protector Beast is one of the large monsters found in the Dragon City Ruins. Players looking to understand how to take it down can check out the guide provided by "Wioud" below. This information is intended to assist you in your hunt.
Monster Information
The Protector Beast is a dragon-like creature created by ancient civilizations, imbued with the power of beasts. It lacks reproductive capabilities and does not hunt; instead, it directly absorbs Dragon Milk as its source of energy. Although its movements aren't particularly agile, it is incredibly resilient. Even when attacked, it will charge forward without fear, making it extremely dangerous.
Location
Found in the Dragon City Ruins.
Weaknesses
The monster's front legs are its weak points, and both the front legs and tail feathers can be broken, both of which have a high chance of yielding materials.

Combat Strategies
Single Claw Strike
The Protection Beast stands up and raises a single claw to charge up, then slams it down towards the ground, continuing to dash forward. This attack consists of multiple damage hits, and if caught, it can drain a large portion of your health. Thus, upon seeing the initial movement, you should immediately roll away to avoid it. There is also a variant of this attack where the claw simply slams down without digging into the ground.
Ground Stabbing
This move is similar to the Wyvern's sideways stab; the Protection Beast first lays its head on the ground before immediately lunging towards its target.
Short Preparatory Movement
The preparatory movement is very brief but quite noticeable; when you see its head dip down, you’ll know it’s about to unleash this attack. At this moment, it’s best to roll to the sides to evade.
Multi-Stage Charge
This move's preparation resembles a standing dog in reality, with its front paws curled up as it stands on its hind legs, leaning forward. After a brief pause, it lunges towards its target, dealing multiple hits. When you see the posture shown in the image below, immediately move to the sides or behind and wait for the attack to finish.
Ground Slam
The Protecting Beast stands upright with its arms wide open, emitting a white glow. After charging up, it slams down on the ground, causing area damage. This attack has a large radius, so you need to immediately dodge.
