Bow Setup for High Critical Hits in Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, when equipping a bow, it is common to choose skills like Weakness Exploit and Critical Eye. But how can you create a setup that reduces these skill levels? Below is a sharing of a bow build without Weakness Exploit but with high critical rates, brought to you by "ewew0467". Hope it's useful for everyone.

Equipment and Setup

Bow Build

珠子名稱 數量
達人珠III 1
超心珠II 1
射法珠 1
早氣珠 1
反攻珠 1
鑽研珠 1
抗狂珠 2
重擊珠 1
速納珠 1

Note: If you do not enhance with armor spheres, the defense will be quite low.

Weapon

The chosen bow is the Elder Dragon Bow (雌火龍弓), and the Fourth Shot is a highly effective skill to use.

Critical Rate Calculation

Weapon: 15%
Fourth Shot (Level 3): 12%
Weakness Exploit (Level 3): 12%

Overcoming Challenges in Monster Hunter Wilds

Without I3 overcoming: 10%
Overcoming Frenzy: 15%
Overcoming Erosion Attack Armor: 30%
Total: 62% + Armor 30% = 94%
Due to the attribute damage of the locked blade having a maximum of only 5, it almost doesn't take attribute damage, so physical attacks are sufficient. Don't be misled by the Dragon weak point notes; other attribute damage only ranges from 1 to 4, which is why Dragon weak points are listed.

Critical hits trigger for 30 seconds whether or not you successfully dodge while rolling or stepping away after being hit. If you find critical hits difficult to engage with or if you're playing in a team, you can swap the headpiece to include the Fierce Claw and replace the Counter Jewel with an Attack Jewel. This will change it to Attack Level 5 and Critical Hit Level 2, making it more convenient for team battles.

If you are not rushing for speed and prefer a more comfortable strategy, there’s a setup that can finish in about 5 minutes. It offers high defense, doesn’t fear roars, accelerates the creation of wounds, heals 50 health on healing wounds (higher returns with historical battles), and allows for straightforward hard attacks.

Oh, and remember to equip your Palico with the Thorn Spider weapon; it will help you paralyze your enemies once.

Fourth attack: Fourth and sixth shots add +3/+6/+10 attack, and subsequent shots will increase critical hit rates by +8/+10/+12% (corrected after 3/5 retest).

Key Skills for Optimal Performance

The skills that significantly enhance your performance are as follows:

Skill Name Level 1 Effect Level 2 Effect Level 3 Effect Level 4 Effect Level 5 Effect
连击 Attack +7 Attack +9 Attack +10 Attack +11 Attack +12
锁刃刺击 Speed +5% Speed +10% Speed +15% Speed +20% Speed +30%
蓄力大師 +5% Attribute +5% Attribute +5% Attribute +5% Attribute +5% Attribute
转祸为福 +5% Attribute +5% Attribute +5% Attribute +5% Attribute +5% Attribute

From the skill values, it is evident that the fourth shot, critical strike, and level 1连击 have the highest benefits. Aim to equip these three skills at level 1 as much as possible.

Testing the Ice Mechanical Bow

Aiming to test the performance of the Ice Mechanical Bow against normal lockdowns, it achieved a time of 3:38.

Details of the Ice Mechanical Bow

The bow consists of three attack parts, featuring:

  • Three levels of critical hit
  • One attack
  • One attribute (not necessary)

I initially intended to build it with three critical parts for over 30% critical hit rate, but the rolled attributes turned out poorly. Instead, I opted for three attack parts and adjusted the equipment to reach the desired critical hit rate.

If you're interested in the gear setup, check it out! I'm not certain if a better setup exists yet.

The bow has not been refined to the ideal full attack/critical configuration.

Calculating Critical Hits

The critical hit breakdown is as follows:

  • Weapon: 20%
  • Challenge: 15%
  • Overcoming Frenzy: 15%
  • Overcoming Void: 10%
  • Shattering Armor: 30%

Understanding the Percentage Breakdown in Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the percentage composition is divided into three main categories: 45% for permanent features, 15% for challenges, and 30% for outfits, adding up to a total of 90%. This breakdown plays a crucial role in gameplay strategy and player progression.
