Previously, I struggled and caught around ten fish, which was a frustrating process. However, after figuring out the right method, I managed to catch over ten in just half an hour last night!
In the early morning during the Forest Bounty period, you can watch for fish activity, with splashes occurring when the fish are biting well. After waiting about a minute around dawn, 2-3 greedy goldfish will spawn near the splashes. They are very greedy, and I was able to catch them using Stardust Fish Bait and Large Lure in one go!
Introduction
It can be challenging to observe fish movements in areas with lots of splashes. You can use hunter actions (when the fishing rod dips and your body leans forward) and press R2 to reel in. The moment the hook sets will cause the fish to leap out of the water, so be prepared to counter this!
Observing Fish Behavior
In heavily splashed areas, it's hard to monitor the direction of the fish. You can tell the fish’s movement by observing your fishing rod: if the direction it pulls matches the fish's direction, it usually moves very quickly. Conversely, if it pulls differently, the fish will move slowly. You can adjust your direction based on how fast you're moving.
Choosing the Right Bait
Using the right bait is crucial; fish tend to prefer Star Dust Bait. I had a hard time using the big lure before, but switching to Star Dust Bait got a bite right away. Additionally, big octopus prefer the tentacle lure, while other fish can be caught using the big lure.
Fish Spawns
Apart from the splashing area where 2-3 fish can spawn, you can typically find 1-3 biting fish or large bass on either side. You can ensure a catch of at least 5 large fish in one trip.
Catching the Great Swordfish
If you want to catch the Great Swordfish, you need to fish during the barren period. It’s recommended to practice your technique before this, as the game speeds up significantly.
Don’t Forget Your Hunter Jewels
Remember to bring along hunter jewels. It seems that the time spent reeling in fish is shorter with them.
