Introduction to Pure Support Build
What does a pure support build for the Sword and Shield look like in Monster Hunter Wilds version 1.0? Below, you can find a reference for the pure support build provided by "-The Indomitable Star." We hope it will be helpful for everyone.
Armor and Gear Setup
In Monster Hunter Wilds, you can find an extensive database for gear, materials, and monsters that is all inclusive. It even includes an automatic gear setup feature to guide you through your adventures without getting lost!
Having played over 200 hours in the late game as a support Sword and Shield user, I truly enjoy the experience of having three teammates engaged and actively battling monsters. Therefore, I have currently assembled a support build that I feel is optimal.
Weapon Choice
For the weapon, I recommend the Poison Spider's Sting. As a pure support player, you need to abandon the concept of output damage. Your role isn’t just to heal your teammates but also to provide buffs and crowd control. Overall, your goal is to allow your teammates to play without pressure and enjoy the fight.
It is worth mentioning that while your teammates are dealing damage, they may not have the time to consider all the environmental factors, but you can take the time to trigger those elements.
Conclusion
In summary, being a pure support player in Monster Hunter Wilds can greatly enhance your team's performance. Remember to choose the right weapons and maintain an effective gear setup to maximize your capabilities in the field. Happy hunting!
Monster Hunter Wilds Gameplay Insights
For example, the environmental factors affecting Hound Dragon are quite amusing; it gets hit by a dam on land, then gets smashed while underwater, and finally gets swept away by a dam on top. It's hilarious.
In actual practice, it is easier to knock out a monster with mechanical traps than with mechanical weapons, mainly because they are not visually appealing. With the 8-star Elder War Seras, normal output allows for three knockouts easily. This doesn't even consider having a few traps in your pocket; if your teammates can deal some damage, it basically turns into a chopping board where the monsters can hardly stand.
With special abilities and full paralysis enhancements, Iron Wall is just an optional addition. When you hunt monsters, think of it as planting rice repeatedly, no need to compete for damage. Leave that to sword and axe users; your goal is simply to keep knocking them out.
Gear, Charms, and Skills Overview
Defensive level 7 and spirit level 3 are essential for survival, allowing you to maintain your energy for other tasks. After all, you don't want the healer to be taken out early. Having Wide Area 5 and Quick Eating 3 are essential core skills for healers, and there is no need to elaborate further on that.
Introduction
In Monster Hunter Wilds, while mushrooms aren't an absolute necessity, I suffer from a constant fear of resource scarcity. Using Mandragora keeps me alive, and having ten potions feels amazing. It's the same with ten Demon Drug potions and ten Dash Juice potions. Remember to support your dual blade and bow teammates—keep the momentum going throughout the quest.
Buffing Up with Essential Jewels
One crucial item is the Cushion Jewel, which I recall receiving from the main storyline. It's essential for melee combat. Just yesterday, I got pinned down by two dual blade users, unable to move. Having that jewel was a lifesaver.
Other Gems and Their Utilities
On a side note, the Assault Jewel is somewhat optional; it’s nice to have but not always necessary.
